The Royal Wedding Of The Century!

All eyes were on London recently as millions of people from around the world watched Prince William and his bride Kate (Catherine) Middleton tie the royal knot at Westminster Abbey. The bride wore an intricate, off-white gown, designed by Sarah Burton, creative director at Alexander McQueen.

Her layered veil was made of soft, ivory silk tulle with a trim of hand-embroidered flowers paired with a Cartier ‘halo’ tiara lent to her by the queen. The bridal gown’s sweeping train measured just over six feet.

"The skirt echoes an opening flower, with white satin gazar arches and pleats. The ivory satin bodice, which is narrowed at the waist and padded at the hips, draws on the Victorian tradition of corsetry and is a hallmark of Alexander McQueen’s designs.” According to the official Royal Wedding website.

We can reveal that top stylist James Pryce from ‘Richard Ward Hair & Metrospa’ Sloane Square, was charged with the task of styling the bridal hair while the team from Richard Ward styled the bridal party.

James Pryce has been in the hairdressing industry for over 15 years, gaining extensive knowledge from working in salons such as Trevor Sorbie and Daniel Galvin. James joined the Richard Ward team in 2006 and immediately became a member of the Artistic Team where he has worked on numerous sessions, shows and photographic shoots and worked with Richard on various Television projects.

"Catherine’s bridal look is called the ‘Demi Chignon’ – an up-do style which combines a classic bridal look with a regal, couture finish. The focus of the style was Catherine’s unique and individual halo style tiara, set just back from the hairline, which determined the finished look” Said Richard.

Richard and James were extremely honoured and privileged to be involved with creating Catherine’s wedding look. The team were equally delighted to be working with the family and styling the bridal party on such a special day.

"The entire salon team feel extremely proud of their association with the Middleton family and would like to take this opportunity to thank them for continued loyalty and support over the years and wish their royal highnesses every happiness in their married life together.” Said Richard.

Richard’s destination salon has been described as ‘leisurely and luxurious yet unpretentious’ and is home to over 170 innovative hair and beauty treatments, such as Metrospa Multi-Tasking and Super Fast Blow Dry, where stylists and therapists work in tandem for the ultimate in speedy expertise.

Metrospa, the salon’s unique brand of city day spa, is a state-of-the-art pampering zone featuring expert therapists and exclusive ranges including DCL and Keraskin Esthetics. Indeed, L’Oreal chose the salon to host the world-wide launch of this long-awaited new luxury skincare brand.

Vogue magazine recently dubbed his unique team as ‘obsessional about that elusive personal touch’ in his ‘spectacularly sunny, cleverly sectioned space’, likening the salon’s floor manager Gavin to a maitre’d at The Ivy. Italian Vanity Fair recently dubbed Richard Ward Hair & Metrospa one of the most ‘ultra-glamour salons’ not only in Europe but world-wide, cementing Richard’s Italian reputation as ‘Golden Scissors’.

Richard has cultivated a specialist team to offer the most innovative, must-have hair and beauty treatments in 500sq ft of luxurious surroundings in the heart of London’s Chelsea. Richard says "We aim to deliver on every level and exceed our client expectations – making our salon one of London’s most glamorous pampering hot spots; a haven of relaxation ensured to guarantee you leave looking and feeling fantastic!”
