Mozart Goes Gaga At NZ Beauty Expo!

Following on from its success in 2009, the biggest names in the beauty and spa industry once again turned out to be part of this years NZ Beauty Expo. Exhibitors from all around New Zealand and Australia, representing some of the biggest brands in the industry, were all together under one roof in Auckland for the largest NZ Beauty Expo to date.

A record number of visitors enjoyed an incredible variety of stands covering the whole beauty spectrum including Skincare, Makeup, Nails, Eyelash products, Software, Hair extensions, Salon Furniture, Spa products and Hair products. This year saw several hair companies exhibiting including Dateline Imports, Euro Salon Supplies, Dome Hair Extensions and Crown Brushes from Australia.

Some of the more impressive stands included Environ, Jane Iredale, House of Camille, Dermalogica and Creative Nails who gave everyone the opportunity to win $5,000. Dateline had everyone swooning over their fabulous red Ferrari. Our Images stand was well attended with 3 lucky subscribers winning product packs valued at over $1,000 each, courtesy of L’Oreal and Artav Australia.

Over on the main stage the Triple Challenge nails makeup and hair Competition saw some amazing transformations taking place. Inspiration from music and movies culminated in the stunning creations created of ‘Poison Ivy’ (Batman & Robin), ‘Queen of Hearts’ (Alice in Wonderland), and ‘Katy Perry’ to name a few. The winner of the hotly contested competition was ‘Poison Ivy’ by the team from Cut Above Academy.

On Sunday, Remix Magazine editor Tina Moore, leading Makeup artist Sam Cairns-Morrison, hairdresser Iain Smith and international photographer Garth Badger wowed visitors with a live fashion shoot. The Remix team discussed concepts, creating looks and the inside view on print focused fashion and makeup to the audience.

The grand finale to this year’s expo, was presented by Cut Above Academy on Sunday afternoon, saw an awe-inspiring ‘Mozart Goes Gaga’ catwalk stage spectacular featuring 18 models which infused Mozart inspired fashion, hair and makeup with a 21st century spin on Lady Gaga’s influence as a modern day pop icon.

During the weekend seminars featured Annah Stretton, fashion and publishing guru, followed by industry experts providing insights and lessons into building successful businesses and what’s new in the world of beauty.

NZ Hair Expo Launch in 2012

The organisers of the NZ Beauty Expo are excited to announce the pending formal launch of the NZ Hair Expo in 2012. Based on industry feedback, organizers postponed the launch of the Hair Expo alongside the NZ Beauty Expo this year, preferring instead to launch a stand alone event specific to the hair industry’s needs in 2012.

Simon Gillson joins the team with a wealth of experience in the exhibition & events industry, coming from Reed Exhibitions and the Sydney Hair Expo. He brings with him vast knowledge of both the hair & beauty industries.
