Micheal Beel at LFW - Emilia Wickstead

For autumn/winter 13, London-based designer, New Zealand born, Emilia Wickstead paid homage to the accomplished female professionals of the mid-20th century. Female businesswomen, to whom elegant tailoring was paramount to the working wardrobe. Hair director was Snowden Hill assisted backstage by our own Micheal Beel from Buoy Hairdressing, Wellington.

Micheal says "I worked backstage at the Emilia Wickstead show held at the beautiful Connaught Hotel in Mayfair London. It was a buzz working alongside Snowden Hill (who was out here last year!) The feeling was downtown chic to offset the uptown vibe of the clothes.

The hair was simple, clean and styled with no product into a low messy bun clean around the ears and a strong central parting”.

Wickstead was born in Auckland, and lived here until she was 14, when and her and her mother moved to Milan. At 26 she moved to London to study at London’s Central Saint Martins; Alumni included Alexander McQueen, John Galliano, and Stella McCartney. She then moved to New York where she spent time working at various fashion houses and US Vogue before starting her own label in 2009.
