How long have you been on the industry team for now?

1 crazy year.

What has been the most memorable moments for you on the team?

Probably when we worked the S/S preview for fashion Quarterly. It was a really awesome show. Me and a few others were newish to the team but we had just been to Hair Expo and had started to relax around each other and just have fun.

What’s the best part about being on a team like industry creative?

Being so active in Industry is mainly the best part. But the Industry Creative Team has so many talented stylists on board and not everyone is available for every show and project so every time we do something you have an opportunity to learn new things from different members depending on whose there. It’s the art of collaboration.

Tell us about your most successful career highlight to date?

This year has been full of highlights it’s so hard to choose. Working at London fashion week in September was pretty incredible I did 3 shows. Just think of all the hairdressers in London, I was lucky enough to hear back from the Agencies I emailed.

What would be the single most important thing you have learnt from Sara and Jock whilst on the team?

Sara and Jock have taught me a lot of the nuts and bolts of editorial work which is another world altogether. A lot of people think we are handed out opportunities by being in the team but really Sara and Jock show us how to gain the kind of work we do and how to make the most of it.

I would have to say jump at the opportunities given to you and run with it as you never know where it may lead. To open up and try new things. We tend to get stuck in old habits and ways, but I’ve learnt that you constantly learn new things everyday so open your mind and take it on board!

What has been the most memorable moments for you on the team?

One of the most memorable moments for me is the day I met everyone at the 2014 Industry Awards. Everyone was so welcoming and supportive, the camaraderie within the team is amazing! And of course the big one was working on London Fashion Week with the team. It was such an incredible experience, it’s on a totally different level to anything I had worked on before!

What’s the best part about being on a team like industry creative?

The best part is the invaluable experience you get from working alongside such talented people such as Sara and Jock and the rest of the team. You are constantly learning new skills and techniques not only to do with hair but also about the industry and business side of things as well. Also we know we can rely on each other if we ever need anything and Sara and Jock are always there for us to help us achieve our goals.

Getting Silver in the New Zealand Apprentice of the Year category for Wella Trend Vision 2014 and working on London Fashion Week with the team!

What would be the single most important thing you have learnt from Sara and Jock whilst on the team?

I have learnt so much from Sara and Jock its hard to pick just one thing! I think the thing that sticks with me the most is that you always have to have an open mind and never have a set idea; you need to be able to adapt and think on your feet fast. Too often we as hairdresser’s have a certain look we want to create and the model we are given may not fit that, you need to work with what you have instead of working against it.

I have spent one year with the team.

The group photo shoot we did earlier in the year, getting teamed up and being able to bounce ideas off someone else that you have never worked with before was so refreshing.

What’s the best part about being on a team like industry creative?

Definitely the chances to work on shows and doing photo shoots, it was great to be apart of that.

Tell us about your most successful career highlight to date?

So many things really.. Still being in business! I had a cracker year 2013 with winning editorial stylist of the year, and other awards, so that was awesome.

What would be the single most important thing you have learnt from Sara and Jock whilst on the team?

I think it’s easy to get stuck in your own ideas when you do photo shoots, so they encourage you to be a bit more open minded. If you want something you gotta get off your butt and chase it because there are so many amazing things out there, but you have to be your own driver to chase the opportunities, and I have always lived with that belief, Sara and Jock work so hard in the industry, and I respect them for their attitudes alone!
