Industry Extracted 2016

You have heard the rumours and now we can finally confirm that on May 8th at The Studio on Krd, Australian hairdressing superstar Brad Ngata will headline ‘Industry Extracted.’ Joining Brad on stage will be the Australian FAME Team and one of Australia’s top colourist Belinda Jeffery. The New Zealand contingent will consist of Mana Dave, Brad Lepper and the Industry Creative Team. The event will finish with the presentation of the Industry Hairdressing Awards.

Brad’s accolades include Hair Expo ‘Australian Hairdresser of the Year’ for two consecutive years (2005 & 2006); consumer media awards ‘Sydney’s Best Hairdresser’ for two consecutive years and ‘Australian Hair Stylist of the Year’ at the 2004 Australian Fashion Awards. In 2005 he was included in the Sunday Telegraph magazine’s ‘Hot 100 List’ of Australia’s most influential style-setters and made the Daily Telegraph’s 2012 list of ‘Sydney’s Top 20 Stylish Men’.

"I am excited to return to New Zealand, my birth and spiritual home. I will be presenting a snapshot of my current obsessions. Expect to see diverse looks, interesting techniques and session secrets. My concepts are a expression of my creative landscape. The spectrum of looks are from developed signature looks, wig work, session life and fashion forward salon looks. I will present 8 models. The show will be broken up into 3 sections and I will demonstrate and present looks covering a selection of men’s styling and a homage to the late David Bowie.”

"I will be showing the ‘Stages of a woman’s hair life’. Selfie obsessed youth culture, to a fab and forty-ish styling showing that women in this age group don’t want to be boring and Mumsy and demand high end styling in a salon friendly way, to a haute, uber chic polished grey nomad. This reflects who my clients are in my salon and how I meet their requests delivering sexy, desirable , fashionable hairdressing with great colour work and exceptional styling, punctuated by total aspirational styling and coolness that I won’t describe and will wait till I do my show for element of wonder! All wrapped up in my formidable style and panache delivered in a easy manner with lots of humour.”

Brad will also present a look and learn the following day and will recreate 4 looks and break it down, unplugged and in depth. "I will share all I know not only with my session work but salon life. For me the process is the most important part of my work life and I look at this and share.”

Belinda Jeffrey is one of Australia’s most highly sought after colourists. Having worked on a number of blockbuster films, including ‘The Waiting’ with Rose Byrne, ‘Nim’s Island’ with Jodie Foster, ‘Australia’ with David Wenham along with ‘Master & Commander’ and ‘Moulin Rouge’ where she coloured the locks of iconic Australian Kylie Minogue and Scottsman Ewan McGregor!

Her regular clientele at her luxurious Double Bay salon include a mix of local celebrities and high profile personalities such as Megan Gale, Miranda Kerr, Else Taylor, Baz Luhrman, Catherine Martin, Sarah Murdoch, Bryan Brown, Rachel Ward, Jodie Meares, Lisa Hensley, Sophie Falkiner, Natalie Mendoza and Julie Healy.

The Fellowship Academy of Merit and Excellence (F.A.M.E) Team are selected annually from Australia’s leading salons. Past members including Errol Douglas, Sasha Mascolo, Lores Giglio, Joey Scandizzo, Kylie Oaks, Richard Mannah, Lyndell Mansfeild and Antoinette Beenders to name just a few.

Prospective Australian F.A.M.E TEAM members go through a rigorous selection process to join this elite group. Only hairdressers who are under 35 years of age at the time of judging and have permission from their employers, are considered. The 2016 Australian Fame team will be announced at the AHFA Awards on 10th April and will be onstage at Industry Extracted on May 8th.

The team aims to present a fashion forward show involving 8 models that showcases each of their distinct aesthetics that will all come together with a common thread. Unfortunately due salon commitments this will be the only NZ appearance for the Australian F.A.M.E Team
